Eligibility Criteria for Visitor Visa (Subclass 600)

Genuine Visitor:
Applicants must intend to stay temporarily in Australia, respecting the visa’s conditions and not overstaying their permitted duration.

Financial Capacity:
Evidence of sufficient funds to cover travel costs, accommodation, and living expenses during the stay.

No Intent to Work:
The visa does not permit employment or formal studies exceeding three months.

Health examinations and character checks may be required to assess suitability.

Specific Criteria for Streams:
Each stream may have additional requirements, such as sponsorship for the Sponsored Family Stream or approved travel agency arrangements for the Approved Destination Status Stream.
Types of Visitor Visa Streams
Tourist Stream
- For holiday-makers and those visiting family or friends.
- Applicants can apply from inside or outside Australia.
Visa Application Fee:
- From AUD 200 (apply outside Australia)
- From AUD 500 (apply in Australia)
Business Visitor Stream
- For short-term business activities such as attending conferences, meetings, or negotiations.
- Not intended for working or selling goods/services.

Sponsored Family Stream
- For those whose visit is sponsored by an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
- Sponsors may be required to pay a security bond.

Approved Destination Status Stream
- For citizens from certain areas of China travelling on organised tours.
Visa Application Fee:
- From AUD 200
Frequent Traveller Stream
- For frequent visitors, particularly citizens from the People’s Republic of China, Brunei, Cambodia, Philippines, Laos, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam or Timor Leste.
- Allows multiple entries to Australia over a period of up to 10 years.
